We are proud to share the outstanding success of our members at this year’s Cheltenham International Salon of Photography—one of the UK’s most prestigious and long-established international photographic salons. With thousands of entries submitted by photographers from around the world, gaining acceptance here is no small feat.
This year, 12 of our club members (Annie, Carol, Francis, Jeff, Leslie, Malcolm, Mark, Mick, Rene, Richard, Roger and Trish) had a total of 28 images accepted, a remarkable achievement that speaks volumes about the standard and creativity within our club. The Cheltenham Salon is recognized by the Photographic Society of America (PSA), the Global Photographic Union (GPU), and the Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP), making it a truly global platform for showcasing the very best in photographic artistry.
For context, acceptance into an international salon like Cheltenham isn’t just about entering a competition—it’s about being judged among the best, under strict international standards. With acceptance rates typically hovering around 20–25%, getting a single image accepted is an accomplishment; multiple acceptances, across different categories, is something to shout about.
Our members' work spanned a wide range of styles and genres—from evocative landscapes and striking portraits to powerful documentary and creative digital compositions. It’s a testament to the diversity and talent we nurture within our group.
Several members achieved multiple acceptances, reflecting not just consistency but also versatility in their photographic vision. Whether working in colour or monochrome, natural light or studio setups, the standard of submitted work continues to climb year after year—and the Cheltenham judges clearly took notice.
For those unfamiliar with salon exhibitions, accepted images will now be part of the Cheltenham Salon’s digital presentation and catalogue. These showcases travel far and wide—seen by international audiences, judges, and fellow photographers—providing valuable exposure and recognition for those selected.
It’s also worth noting that international salon acceptances contribute towards photographic distinction awards (such as those issued by FIAP and PSA), so these results have a direct impact on members working towards formal recognition of their achievements.
We’ll be sharing a slideshow of all the accepted entries at a club evening in the new season, so everyone can see the images that caught the judges’ eyes. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be inspired and to ask questions about how the photographers approached their work—from concept to capture, editing to final presentation.
Huge congratulations to all who took part and especially to those whose images made the final cut. Getting accepted into a salon of this calibre is no easy task—it takes more than just technical skill. It requires vision, precision, and the courage to put your work out into the international spotlight.
Let’s keep the momentum going. Here’s to even more success on the salon circuit in the months ahead!
